Pit-fired pottery pot

Hand-formed porcelain clay in a solid fom. Bottom is very narrow, and the transition to the rounded belly is dead straight, creating an visually pleasing combination of lines and curves. Burnished terra sigillata, semi-gloss finish. Colours range from deep black, to grey, to blue grey and white. Black runs in a wavy band around the pot, with plenty of ghosting at the transition lines. There is no red on this pot. If you have seen the summer sky at midnight in Northern Ontario, you will understand the name of this pot. Size: 6½" tall by 6" wide.
